In Step #2 of our 4,000-word buyer’s guide, Finding a Fit in Five Easy Steps: How to Find a Great Summer Camp, we explain how to build a list of prospective camps for your son or daughter to go to.

We go over a variety of ways to build your list, but one of them is to consult a referral agent:

A second type of camp consultant is a referral agent. Their services are free to you because they receive a commission from the camp where your son or daughter is placed.

In this post, we offer a list of eleven referral agents. We know each one of them, and have worked with many of them for decades.

Below each name, we’ve noted the business' home location. It is important to understand, however, that home location is not the same as geographical expertise. These referral agents spend weeks on the road every year touring camps, meeting directors and talking to campers all over the country. They expertise has a wide span.

Some of these businesses are one-person shops; others have as many as 17 consultants in various cities around the world. It might make sense to check out a few websites to figure out which one is right for you.

The agents below are listed in alphabetical order. If you have suggestions on how we might help you differentiate between them, please contact me at 717-567-3349 or

Good luck!
