Walking to Support Alder Health Services
Next Saturday we’ll be doing a 5k in Harrisburg (walking, not running).
We’re raising money for Alder Health Services, a non-profit in Harrisburg.
By “we” I mean Susan, Maddie, Louise and I, plus a handful of friends and family.
The walk benefits 46 local organizations.
We heard about this opportunity through my wife, Alecia Sundsmo. She’s on Alder’s board.
A Clinic for Underserved Populations
Alder is a clinic. It serves two disenfranchised populations: individuals living with HIV / AIDS, and members of the LGBTQ community.
We’re supporting Alder because of those underserved by the regular healthcare system.
Also, this is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our inclusiveness, which is one of our five core values. We stand opposed to the bigotry emanating from the presidential nominating process and state houses like NC. Listening to this news, I think to myself, what can we do? One thing we can do is tell our friends what, and whom, we value. We can make sure our friends know where we stand.
If you want to join us, the more the merrier. We’d love to have you. The 5k starts at the HACC campus. Registration is at 7:45 a.m, we’ll meet up then. The walk starts at 9 o’clock. If you want to join us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll send you the details.
